Optimum Bookkeeping was born out of a passion to see its clients build, grow, and sustain their companies. Optimum Bookkeeping is inspired and founded by our CEO, Wilma Belardo, a highly respected former Business Office Manager and Corporate Controller for over 10 years.  As Wilma puts it, “I came to understand the ins-and-outs of a business by always being in the thick of things.” 

Working at the executive level in the corporate world, Wilma had the unique distinction of not only crunching the numbers and planning for a large multi-million dollar corporation, but also the pleasure of working directly with many of her company’s small business customers. She saw that when it comes to protecting a company’s assets, while growing the business, multitasking is as much a part of every small business owners’ life as it is part of a corporate executive’s life. However, unless the small business owner was well versed in bookkeeping and financial issues, when it came time to crunch the numbers, the numbers usually crunched the business owner.

Unlike corporate executives, the reality is that most business owners don’t have the luxury of relying on an experienced accounting and financial team. As a result, Wilma saw many companies go out of business because the owners found themselves working in the business more than working on it.

As a former Business Office Manager, Corporate Controller, and even serving as interim CFO at one point, Wilma took over a company’s daily financial transactions. This resulted in taking a huge burden off her employers’ shoulders. It didn’t take long for her to recognize the positive impact this had on her colleague’s productivity, which in turn, made for a more positive impact on her company’s bottom line.

Wilma realized that most small business owners are burdened with the financial aspects of their company. The vast majority are not trained or experienced enough to do their own bookkeeping and accounting. Because of this, Wilma knew what she had to do.
